SMASH THE DONATION DOUBLER BUTTON RIGHT HERE! To help us raise much-needed funding, a very generous donor has offered $100,000 in matching funds for all donations made on Giving Tuesday, November 29th. That’s right! Every dollar will be matched dollar-for-dollar, having TWICE the lifesaving impact. AND… make a one-time donation of $150 or more OR sign up to donate $25 or more per month, and you’ll be entered to win a $500.00 VISA Gift Card!

We'll be raising funds through Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation's Give Back Tahoe, as well as our online donation pages and offline. Every donation will help us reach our $100,000 goal, so please consider helping us with your donation today. And remember, every dollar you donate will magically become two!

FEEL THE LOVE! The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe’s intention on Giving Tuesday, and every other day of the year, is to make the world a better place for pets and people. The only way we can accomplish this lofty goal is through the generosity of our donors, the kindness of our adopters and volunteers, and the support of our animal-loving community.

Giving Activity

Mission

HSTT is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoptions, community spay/neuter services, and humane education programs.

HSTT’s Low-Cost Community Spay/Neuter program HSTT’s Low-Cost CSN programs provide low and no-cost surgeries to qualified limited-income, full-time residents of Eastern El Dorado County or South Lake Tahoe from Glenbrook to Meyers.

HSTT provides FREE Vaccine & Microchip Clinics at our South Lake Tahoe location for permanent residents of Eastern El Dorado County or South Lake Tahoe from Glenbrook to Meyers. Clinics occur quarterly and serve populations of pets who have typically never seen a Veterinarian.

To help guardians keep their companion animals through difficult times, we offer Community Pet Care Assistance to qualifying residents of Eastern El Dorado County, or South Lake Tahoe from Glenbrook to Meyers, with the cost of necessary, yet financially unattainable, veterinary care. The goal is to fill a small gap in funding to low-income, elderly and disabled pet caretakers that are keeping an animal from receiving necessary/urgent care.

Our Pet Pantry program provides pet food and supplies to our community members. We've partnered with local social service groups to provide pop-up distribution locations for community members receiving food assistance through these programs.

Our Pet Assisted Therapy program brings joy to the lives of hundreds of local patients at Barton Health. Volunteers, with their trained and certified therapy dogs, visit people who greatly benefit from the calming effects of an animal.

Our Volunteer programs give many adults with disabilities, kids, and seniors the opportunity to learn skills while making a difference in the lives of needy pets.

HSTT’s Reading program, Read Up For Fun (RUFF), is designed to build self-esteem in young readers. Trained volunteers bring their certified dogs into the El Dorado County Library, where children will practice reading to the dog.
